First volume in state-of-the-art radiologic text-atlas series details anatomy of the lungs, mediastinum, and heart

Normal imaging anatomy and variants, including both diagnostic and surgical anatomy, are the cornerstones of radiologic knowledge. Imaging Anatomy: Text and Atlas Volume 1, Lungs,
Mediastinum, and Heart is the first in a series of four richly illustrated radiologic references edited by distinguished radiologist Farhood Saremi and coedited by Damian Sanchez-Quintana,
Hiro Kiyosue, Francesco F. Faletra, Meng Law, Dakshesh Patel, and Shane Tubbs, with contributions from an impressive cadre of international authors.

The exquisitely crafted atlas provides high-quality multiplanar and volumetric color-coded imaging techniques utilizing CT, MRI, or angiography, supplemented by cadaveric presentations and
color drawings that best elucidate each specific anatomic region. Twenty-one chapters with concise text encompass thoracic wall, mediastinum, lung, vascular, and cardiac anatomy, providing
readers with a virtual dissection experience. Many anatomical variants along with pathological examples are presented.

Key Highlights

More than 600 illustrations enhance understanding of impacted regions
Lung anatomy including the pleura, pulmonary arteries, pulmonary veins, and lymphatics
Discussion of the tracheobronchial system, mediastinum and thymus, thoracic aorta and major branches, systemic veins, lymphatics and nerves of the thorax, diaphragm, and breast
Heart anatomy including the atrioventricular septal region; aortic, pulmonary, mitral and tricuspid valves; coronary arteries and myocardial perfusion; coronary veins; and pericardium

Atlas of Functional Shoulder Anatomy the booklanceby Giovanni Di Giacomo (Editor), Nicole Pouliart (Editor), Alberto Costantini (Editor), Andrea de Vita (Editor)The anatomy of the shoulder is based on complex joint biomechanics. The purpose of this Atlas is to focus the reader’s attention on a series of bone, ligament, muscle and tendon structures and ultrastructures within the shoulder on which only the most recent international literature has reported in specialized journals. This Atlas also presents extremely high-definition images of “targeted” sections obtained from cadavers preserved using state-of-art techniques. This unique Atlas, making use of images of major visual impact, offers a scientific message on a topical joint, using simple but dedicated descriptive language.

Anatomy and Physiology: An Integrated Approach the booklanceby Julian Pittman (Author)Anatomy and Physiology: An Integrated Approach combines the study of anatomy and physiology into one well-organized and illustrated text. It teaches students about the purposes of organ systems, as well as their interconnections. It educates readers about interactions between systems and how disruption to a single system can impact overall function. The book provides detailed information on the topics covered in the traditional, two-course sequence of college-level anatomy and physiology but avoids overwhelming readers with inessential information. Rather, the material focuses on primary concepts and how to apply them. Linked learning strategies, section-specific references, and short summaries throughout each chapter emphasize and reiterate material, enhancing learning and retention. Anatomically accurate, vibrant, realistic artwork helps readers visualize anatomic and physiological principles. Written as an integrative text, Anatomy and Physiology provides a consistent, balanced discussion of both anatomy and physiology within and across chapters. The book is suitable for courses on anatomy, physiology, and human biology, particularly those designed for programs in health care professions. Julian Pittman holds a doctorate from the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. His formal training is in neuroscience and pharmacology/toxicology, and he has taught anatomy and physiology at Christopher Newport University and William and Mary. Currently Dr. Pittman is Associate Chair of the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences at Troy University in Alabama. In addition to teaching, Dr. Pittman maintains an active research program, where his research interests are focused on understanding the behavioral, neuroanatomical, and neurochemical substrates of anxiety and depression. Dr. Pittman is a member of the Society of Biological Psychiatry.

Anatomy and Physiology with Integrated Study Guide 6th Edition the booklanceby Stanley Gunstream (Author)Designed for an introductory, one-semester course, the scope, organization, writing style, depth of presentation, and pedagogical aspects of this text have been tailored to meet the needs of students preparing for a career in allied health. This text does not assume any prior science knowledge on the part of the student and effectively presents students with the fundamentals of anatomy and physiology. It’s the only one-semester text available with a built-in study guide/workbook.A hallmark feature of this text is the author’s presentation of A&P concepts that are accurate, but presented at a level that is appropriate for virtually all students. The new author team highlights the relationships between structure and function of body parts and the mechanisms of homeostasis. In addition, interrelationships of the organ systems are noted where appropriate and useful. Without the excessive detail of some of the longer A & P texts, students can better comprehend key critical concepts in each important area of study.Users who purchase Connect Plus receive access to the full online ebook version of the textbook.

Anatomy, Age and Ecology of High Mountain Plants in Ladakh, the Western Himalaya the booklanceby Jiří Doležal (Author), Miroslav Dvorský (Author), Annett Börner (Author), Jan Wild (Author), Fritz Hans Schweingruber (Author)This aesthetically unique book combines ecological, morphological and anatomical, as well as phylogenetic studies on plant material in a largely unexplored dry mountain region above the timberline. It offers the first comparative analysis of hundreds of plants – annuals, perennial herbs and dwarf shrubs – in an area of 87,000 km2 at altitudes from 2600 to 6150 m above sea level in the Western Himalaya. Characteristic landscape pictures of all major vegetation types and maps show at which locations and altitudes the individual species of vascular plants are distributed, while macroscopic plant pictures and plant age are related to high-quality micro-sections and micro-photographs.The anatomical features of 345 dicotyledons were characterized using the published coding systems and those of 155 monocotyledones were characterized on the basis of a newly developed key. The number of annual rings and anatomical features of the xylem and phloem of dicots are compared and related to different ecological conditions within this extremely dry and cold environment. The ecological and anatomical characterization is used to create a phylogenetic tree based on nucleotide sequences, and indicates which features are genetically stable and which ones are modified by environmental factors.
