Ultrasonic Topographical and Pathotopographical Anatomy the booklanceby Z. M. Seagal (Author), O. V. Surnina (Author)Written by experienced and well-respected physicians and professors, this new all-color volume presents the ultrasonic topographical and pathotopographical anatomy of the body, including the head, neck, chest, anterolateral abdominal wall, abdominal organs, retroperitoneal space, male and female pelvises, and lower extremities.Specific and non-specific ultrasonic symptoms are suggested for normal and abnormal developmental variants, diffuse and local pathotopographical anatomy. This color atlas contains comparative topographical and pathotopographical data and is the first manual of its kind for students and medical specialists in different areas, including those specializing in medical sonography. The original technology was tested at clinics in patients subjected to ultrasonic monitoring. Because of early detection there were no false-positive or false-negative results. The therapy was effective, and, in some cases, the use of the original method of “seagalography” (optometry and pulsemotorgraphy) has made it possible to develop new methods of treatment and/or to determine the optimal doses of drugs, as well as to develop effective drug complexes for treatment of a given pathology. This important new volume will be valuable to physicians, junior physicians, medical residents, lecturers in medicine, and medical students alike, either as a textbook or as a reference. It is a must-have for any physician’s library.

Ammonoid Paleobiology: From anatomy to ecology (Topics in Geobiology Book 43) 1st ed the booklanceby Christian Klug (Editor), Dieter Korn (Editor), Kenneth De Baets (Editor), Isabelle Kruta (Editor), Royal H. Mapes (Editor)This two-volume work is a testament to the abiding interest and human fascination with ammonites. We offer a new model to explain the morphogenesis of septa and the shell, we explore their habitats by the content of stable isotopes in their shells, we discuss the origin and later evolution of this important clade, and we deliver hypotheses on its demise. The Ammonoidea produced a great number of species that can be used in biostratigraphy and possibly, this is the macrofossil group, which has been used the most for that purpose. Nevertheless, many aspects of their anatomy, mode of life, development or paleobiogeographic distribution are still poorly known.Themes treated are biostratigraphy, paleoecology, paleoenvironment, paleobiogeography, evolution, phylogeny, and ontogeny. Advances such as an explosion of new information about ammonites, new technologies such as isotopic analysis, tomography and virtual paleontology in general, as well as continuous discovery of new fossil finds have given us the opportunity to present a comprehensive and timely “state of the art” compilation. Moreover, it also points the way for future studies to further enhance our understanding of this endlessly fascinating group of organisms.

Atlas of Functional Shoulder Anatomy the booklanceby Giovanni Di Giacomo (Editor), Nicole Pouliart (Editor), Alberto Costantini (Editor), Andrea de Vita (Editor)The anatomy of the shoulder is based on complex joint biomechanics. The purpose of this Atlas is to focus the reader’s attention on a series of bone, ligament, muscle and tendon structures and ultrastructures within the shoulder on which only the most recent international literature has reported in specialized journals. This Atlas also presents extremely high-definition images of “targeted” sections obtained from cadavers preserved using state-of-art techniques. This unique Atlas, making use of images of major visual impact, offers a scientific message on a topical joint, using simple but dedicated descriptive language.

A Visual Guide to Clinical Anatomy 1st Edition the booklanceby Robert H. Whitaker (Author)A solid knowledge of anatomy is essential within any number of fields throughout healthcare. A core discipline of all medical degrees, anatomy is generally taught in a series of laboratory sessions and lectures, requiring students to identify a particular organ or structure, explain its function and describe its relation to normal physiology. Students are expected to learn – and practicing clinicians required to remember – an enormous amount of anatomical information.A Visual Guide to Clinical Anatomy is an extraordinary visual reference guide, containing more than 900 high-quality illustrations of the human anatomy. Author and illustrator Robert H. Whitaker draws upon his 30 years of experience as an anatomy demonstrator and lecturer at Cambridge University to present a simple, easy-to-understand approach to both teaching and learning the subject. Each illustration is designed to provide a summary of key anatomical and clinical information of a specific topic or clinical condition. A comprehensive yet user-friendly anatomy resource, this volume:
  • Covers the major areas of human anatomy
  • Provides succinct, clinically relevant information for each illustration
  • Offers clear and accessible synopses of anatomical structures
A Visual Guide to Clinical Anatomy is a valuable addition to the bookshelf of any medical student, instructor, surgical trainee, physician, or healthcare practitioner.

Anatomy, Age and Ecology of High Mountain Plants in Ladakh, the Western Himalaya the booklanceby Jiří Doležal (Author), Miroslav Dvorský (Author), Annett Börner (Author), Jan Wild (Author), Fritz Hans Schweingruber (Author)This aesthetically unique book combines ecological, morphological and anatomical, as well as phylogenetic studies on plant material in a largely unexplored dry mountain region above the timberline. It offers the first comparative analysis of hundreds of plants – annuals, perennial herbs and dwarf shrubs – in an area of 87,000 km2 at altitudes from 2600 to 6150 m above sea level in the Western Himalaya. Characteristic landscape pictures of all major vegetation types and maps show at which locations and altitudes the individual species of vascular plants are distributed, while macroscopic plant pictures and plant age are related to high-quality micro-sections and micro-photographs.The anatomical features of 345 dicotyledons were characterized using the published coding systems and those of 155 monocotyledones were characterized on the basis of a newly developed key. The number of annual rings and anatomical features of the xylem and phloem of dicots are compared and related to different ecological conditions within this extremely dry and cold environment. The ecological and anatomical characterization is used to create a phylogenetic tree based on nucleotide sequences, and indicates which features are genetically stable and which ones are modified by environmental factors.

Anatomy and Physiology: An Integrated Approach

Anatomy and Physiology: An Integrated Approach the booklanceby Julian Pittman (Author)Anatomy and Physiology: An Integrated Approach combines the study of anatomy and physiology into one well-organized and illustrated text. It teaches students about the purposes of organ systems, as well as their interconnections. It educates readers about interactions between systems and how disruption to a single system can impact overall function. The book provides detailed information on the topics covered in the traditional, two-course sequence of college-level anatomy and physiology but avoids overwhelming readers with inessential information. Rather, the material focuses on primary concepts and how to apply them. Linked learning strategies, section-specific references, and short summaries throughout each chapter emphasize and reiterate material, enhancing learning and retention. Anatomically accurate, vibrant, realistic artwork helps readers visualize anatomic and physiological principles. Written as an integrative text, Anatomy and Physiology provides a consistent, balanced discussion of both anatomy and physiology within and across chapters. The book is suitable for courses on anatomy, physiology, and human biology, particularly those designed for programs in health care professions. Julian Pittman holds a doctorate from the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. His formal training is in neuroscience and pharmacology/toxicology, and he has taught anatomy and physiology at Christopher Newport University and William and Mary. Currently Dr. Pittman is Associate Chair of the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences at Troy University in Alabama. In addition to teaching, Dr. Pittman maintains an active research program, where his research interests are focused on understanding the behavioral, neuroanatomical, and neurochemical substrates of anxiety and depression. Dr. Pittman is a member of the Society of Biological Psychiatry.
